Clinical practice (at the Cardiovascular Operating Room, Fujita Health University Hospital)

With the great progress of medical technology, various medical instruments have been playing an important role in emergency medical services and advanced medical treatment. Under such circumstances, clinical engineering professionals who have learned the skills essential for operating and maintaining biomechanical instruments such as artificial heart-lung machines, blood purification facilities and respirators, have come to be more required. Our college established Japan's first one-year training program in 1993. During this short-term class of one school year, all our students learn a higher level of medicine and medical engineering, and they are trained intensively to master the essential skills of clinical engineering technologists.

The functional advancement and mechanical precision of medical instruments have been making rapid progress every year. These circumstances have come to call for clinical engineering technologists with state-of-the-art knowledge of both advanced medicine and medical engineering.
Clinical engineering technologists are required to be the link between patients and machines, and also between doctors and devices at the front lines of treatment.
Now the education to train such technologists is in strong demand. We have been proud of the 100% success rate of the students in obtaining national certification as clinical engineering technologists since the establishment of our course. With this certification you will be able to serve as a member of a medical team, who can not only be a specialist in handling, maintenance and inspection of medical equipment, but also can assist and support patients struggling for their lives.

We have introduced a small-class practical-training system in the curriculum in order to train practical clinical engineering technologists. Under this training system, each teacher can direct a small group of students through one-on-one instruction. Students also gain up-to-date practical experience under experienced clinical technologists and doctors, using the latest clinical devices at Fujita Health University Hospital and Emergency and Critical Center.
We are responsible for training all of you to be excellent clinical engineering technologists who have both rich humanity and mental strength to work in the face of very difficult circumstances.
