Medical EnglishⅡ ※- 28 -[授業内容] This course is for medical students in the early clinical phase of their studies who need to consolidate and expand their intermediate English ability while interacting with patients and foreign classmates and colleagues in a clinical setting. It is designed to deliver pre-intermediate to intermediate competence in spoken and written English to enable students to develop their communicative competence and understanding of the clinical aspects of medical English topics. The course covers medical terminology, practice in specialist vocabulary and a review of grammatical structures. Students will also learn how to communicate with patients and medical colleagues, how to speak at seminars and medical meetings, and how to read and write medical papers. This program also includes material drawn from a range of specialist course books and resource books, as well as up-to-date authentic materials. Further, in the course of this unit, as well as learning English, students will be acquiring some valuable generic skills that can be utilized in their studies in other disciplines and in future learning for personal and work development. These skills include the ability to communicate eectively, both in oral and written forms and to present a coherent and well-reasoned argument, the ability to identify, evaluate and present information as well as learning to implement personal learning strategies and study skills to learn independently.
