Isotropic voxel

Volumetric data acquired by Aquilion using 0.5-mm and 1.0-mm slices in a head examination and a body examination, respectively, provide isotropic voxels, which are ideal source data for volume visualization.

This means that axial, coronal, and sagittal sections are equal in terms of spatial resolution. In another words, partial volume averaging errors due to the slice thickness are totally eliminated under these conditions. This is the realization of the long-awaited dream of radiologists, which has finally come true. At the same time, we will soon realize that the partial volume effect can no longer serve as a convenient excuse in CT interpretation!
