私たちはこれまでに、病原細菌の代謝機構が病原性、抗菌薬感受性、抗菌薬相互作用に影響を及ぼすことを明らかにしてきました。これらの知見と、「分子細菌学」、「機能ゲノミクス・メタボロミクス」、「ケミカルバイオロジー」等の手法を融合することで、有望な創薬標的分子の「目利き」が可能となると考えています。学生や若手研究者のフレッシュなアイディアを、世界的にも停滞している抗菌薬開発に風穴を開ける革新的イノベーション創出へと繋げます。

Understanding the metabolism of pathogenic bacteria for antimicrobial drug discovery

We previously revealed that the metabolism of pathogenic bacteria affects virulence, antimicrobial resistance, and antimicrobial drug interactions. Our current research projects have been focused on understanding this aspect of bacterial metabolism, utilizing various approaches including molecular bacteriology, functional genomics, metabolomics, and chemical biology. Our long-term goal is to identify attractive targets for novel antimicrobial drugs to treat. We welcome the ideas of young talents, including students and young researchers.
