“In 2021, we established the International Center for Brain Science (ICBS), focusing on psychiatry and neurology, to promote research bidirectionally bridging basic neuroscience and clinical studies.With the launch of the J-PEAKS initiative in 2025, we established a new research hub to strengthen our collaboration with other universities, research institutes, and companies in Japan and abroad. We call this bold initiative the Fujita Mind-Brain Research & Innovation Center for Drug Generation (Mind-BRIDGe).
Mind-BRIDGe will research and develop treatments for pervasive brain diseases and mental disorders for which no effective therapies have been established. The ambitious goal of Mind-BRIDGe is to create a world-class hub for research on psychiatric and neurological disorders, that will seamlessly synergize research, data science, and social translation on multiple scales and scopes, from genome, molecular, cellular biology to neural circuits, cognition, and behavior, and from clinical studies to drug discovery and mental health care. Mind-BRIDGe features collaboration with the humanities and social sciences by creating new concepts and initiatives based on integrating knowledge from psychiatric and neurological disorders.
In 10 years, we aim to establish a world-leading academic drug discovery innovation ecosystem, and through collaboration with global partners, we will strive to eradicate major psychiatric and neurological disorders.”
