「藤田医科大学 腫瘍医学研究センター」はがん患者さん目線での「研究」と「診療」の相乗的融合（シナジー効果）を実現するために作られました。「研究」という言葉は「実験的」イメージで誤解されがちですが、正しいがん医療は、がん研究の発展と進歩なくしては成り立たないものであり、「診療」と「研究」その融合により成立しているといっても過言ではありません。ゲノム解析の技術革新により、患者さんの個人的なゲノム情報を実際の診療に応用する「ゲノム医療」の時代が現実に到来しようとしています。これらの成果は「がん研究」の進歩なしには語れないものであり、「患者さんのための研究」こそがん医療の屋台骨になっているのです。各研究室が、がんに対する難問を解決するための研究に取り組んでおりますので、その一端をご紹介いたします。

The Fujita Health University Tumor Medicine Research Center was established to realize a synergistic integration of research and clinical practice, always from the perspective of cancer patients.
The term “research” is sometimes misunderstood as being purely experimental. However, appropriate and effective cancer care cannot exist without continuous advances in cancer research. In fact, it is no exaggeration to say that modern cancer medicine is founded on the close integration of clinical care and research.
With recent technological innovations in genomic analysis, the era of genomic medicine—in which each patient’s individual genomic information is applied directly to clinical practice—is rapidly becoming a reality. Such achievements are inseparable from progress in cancer research. Research conducted for the benefit of patients forms the very backbone of cancer medicine.
At our center, each laboratory is engaged in research aimed at solving the complex and challenging problems associated with cancer. Here, we would like to introduce some of these research efforts.
