Projects

In our laboratory, Aging Control and Regenerative Medicine are the twin pillars of our research. We pursue a broad spectrum of projects, ranging from fundamental studies on aging mechanisms to translational research aimed at extending healthy longevity in later life. Traditionally, the field of geriatric medicine has focused on “with-aging” approaches —managing symptoms and preventing complications associated with age-related diseases and functional decline. However, recent advances indicate that aging itself is a fundamental risk factor for many disorders, drawing attention to proactive “anti-aging” strategies designed to modulate the aging process. Guided by the view that aging is not an irrevocable phenomenon, our laboratory is exploring interventions that not only slow biological aging but also reverse aging—effectively achieving forms of rejuvenation. Through these efforts, we aim to reduce disease onset in older adults, preserve organ function, and ultimately extend healthy lifespan.

With aging, regenerative medicine, and drug discovery as our core themes, we investigate the mechanisms of aging and advance research on anti-aging interventions. Through these efforts, we aspire to support extension of a healthy lifespan and promote better health in later life.
