About the center

The International Center for Brain Sciences (ICBS) consists of seven divisions: Genetics, Cell Biology, Neurophysiology, Neurochemistry, Behavioral Pharmacology, Human Imaging, and Computational Science, and a seamless research system is in place from the genome to the individual. The feature of this research center is that these divisions collaborate to elucidate the pathophysiology of mental and neurological diseases, understand the unknown basic principles of the brain, and develop novel treatment methods and technologies. In addition, we will promote the most advanced research in close cooperation with related organizations such as research centers on campus and departments of each faculty.

Mission

  • Elucidation of the pathophysiology of psychiatric and neurological disorders
    • Psychiatric disorders (Schizophrenia, Major depression, Bipolar disorder, Addiction, PTSD)
    • Neurological disorders (Alzheimer's disease, Parkinson's disease, Encephalomyelitis)
  • Understanding the unknown basic principles of the brain and mind
  • Developing new treatments and new technologies, and patenting them
  • Providing seamless research systems and equipment from the genome to individuals
  • Strengthening and promotion of research projects by core member meetings and contracts with an external consultant
  • Heightening the level of research by strengthening cooperation with on-campus organizations outside ICBS
  • Acquisition of external funds through collaboration inside and outside ICBS
  • Fostering young researchers on campus through the FUJITA Neuroscience Seminar
  • Training of young researchers who will lead the next generation by receiving graduate students from the Graduate School of Medicine and Health Sciences at Fujita Health University
  • Organizing seminars and symposiums to disseminate information domestically and overseas
  • Social contribution through open labs, lab tours, science cafes, and on-site lessons
